Words of Wisdom

Our class always generates very good conversations, with participants often presenting their ideas or providing statements that strongly resonate with me. ‘Words of Wisdom’ is a page in which I will store these thought-provoking ideas shared in class, in hopes of remembering their importance and relevance to my future classroom.

“You already have 2 strikes against you. First, you are Aboriginal. Second, you are a woman.”

“DO NOT follow your heart to find your passion and purpose. Instead follow your heartbreak . . . Finding your passion; surrendering to your heartbreak is really about finding what really moves you.”
– ‘Social Entreprenurship: 7 Ways to Empower Student Changemakers’ article on Edutopia

“Social justice is recognizing and acting upon the power that we have for making positive change.”
– ‘Creating Classrooms for Social Justice’ article on Eductopia

“The process of contextualizing of what is being learned and tying it to the actual lives of the children is an important part of Indigenous Knowledge System.”
– ‘Indigenous Knowledges and the Story of the Bean’ article
